I have emailed BT for the answers on the questions below. Their reply told me to telephone a help desk in a foreign land that cannot understand my questions – let alone give an answer.
My voicemail on Broadband Talk(BT Answer1571) rings 10 times before it answers.
1. Is this the same for everyone?
2. Can the number of rings be adjusted?
3 Is it possible to interrogate(pick up messages) remotely from voicemail(BT Answer1571) on Broadband talk in the same manner as you can on the normal BT landline(for an extra fee)?

don't know the answer to all those but found this:-
You can only access your BT Broadband Talk answer phone messages from phones connected to the router/adapter (including digital multiple handsets).
To access your standard phone line, simply dial 5 on your handset. You will then be able to access your standard phone line messages.
I know you cannot change any settings on the standard 1571 so I assume it's the sam for thisEx forum ambassador

3 - doesn't look like it. Searching here http://btvoip.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/btvoip.cfg/php/enduser/cci/btv_homepage.php
found "You can access your voicemail messages by clicking the icon on the display. This will dial to your voicemail service "
I couldn't find an answer for the other 2.0 -

Thanks, but that is for Softphone which is different to BT Broadband Talk. As I understand it Softphone enables two people who have downloaded the software to talk to each other - like Skype.0 -

Thanks,
Seems like you can't remotely access then. Other than from a cordless extension in another part of the house.
Re your second quote; I was aware of that facility(you have to run another connection from your hub/adapter to your BT landline first) however I cannot see the point. If I want to pick up messages from 1571 on my normal BT line I will use the phone connected to my normal BT line.
The main advantage for me of BT Broadband talk is to have a completely separate phone line with a different(05) Tel No. and free calls eves+WE + very cheap International calls. I have been calling the USA during the day and the voice quality is excellent.0
