I'm aged 39, in a well-paid job in the public sector (with an MBA). I worked for McDonalds between 1987 and 1992 whilst I was in the Sixth Form at school and at university. I have very happy memories. It is the hardest, dirtiest job I have ever done - but the people I worked with were terrific and it was an enjoyable environment. In addition to other teenagers/early 20 somethings I worked with quite a few mums who needed to work flexibly.

The money's not great but the flexibility on the shift system is very good if you need it. There are also opportunities to progress. Most the anti-McDonalds comments you hear are from those who either couldn't see crew work as a starting stone - or from those who have never worked there.

the induction lasts about an hour and a half (paid) you go over a video, fill out contacts, doo health and safety etc.

I eat meals there now at least 5 times a week and have lost over a stone and a half since i started since it is physical work.

When you start it can be a bit daunting I find as most people have been there ages lol, has quite a low turnover.
Well done on getting it- the application stage is really tough - in our store for every 55 applications we can roughly scrounge one interview candidate

Hope I am up to the physical work! I have only worked in offices before, but have 2 kids to run around after!

Have to give 5 weeks notice to my current employer, its a new store so most people will be new or from the other store in the town center. But unless others are coming from other jobs they may all be settled in before I get there!

Going to be working in the dining area, just hope they are true to their word about the shifts.

Asked for 20 hours a week but said | am flexable.

Lobby hosts in my store do find it easier to get the hours they want because there are less people on dining than on front counter/kitchen but there is nearly always someone wanting a shift covered or off sick so is easy o pick up extra hours if you need them.

You should be OK Crockpot. My relative was moved temporarily to a new store when it opened. He trained the new staff but ended up being there more than a month because they were slow recruiting/starting staff.
