Alliance and Leicester Stick the Knife In!

So I have reclaimed my bank charges from Alliance and Leicester for a total of £100.

However, the bank have now informed me they are clossing my account!!!!!!!!

I am in an IVA and so can only seem to get a basic bank account. Can someone advise me as to the best account other than obviously A&L to go for please?!

Many thanks!

Good luck with your bank hunt. Out of personnal interest what did you have to do with your £100? Did you declare it to your IP?

I can't figure out how to PM you but can you let me know exactly what you had to go through before Alliance & Leicester gave you back your charges? I am reclaiming mine with them but they are being pigs about it and are not playing. Just wondered how far you had to take it before you succeeded?

call them back and ask whether they are aware that by closing your account that they may be in breach of the banking code. Hint strongly that since you weren't afraid to take them to court for refund of illegal charges, you won't be afraid to do it a second time.

    Also contact the ombudsman.

    Thanks Guys!

    In answer to the questions....

    1. No I didnt tell my IP about it!

    2. To get the money back from Alliance and Leicester I had to go so far as to placing my claim in court.....

They offered me £25 as a good will gesture but I carried on until I got my £100!

    What rubbish !

It is very clear in the t's & c's that they can withdraw the service and OD at any time - you can't force someone to do business with you.

Yep, if they give you 28 days notice, ANY bank can close an account.

Also, A&L have announced that they will be doing this...was in the freebie copy of "Moneywise" magazine
