Switching electicity to new person

Hi

I live in a student house and i currently have the gas and electricity in my name. My contact for my house ends at the end of June. Now previously we were on npower which was transferred over from my landlords name into my name. I then decided to switch to EDF, who were cheaper.

Will EDF allow me to give the account to the landlord when i end? How early should I arrange it?

You read the meters on your last day, ring or e-mail EDF to give them the reading and your new address. EDF will close your account and send you a final bill: you don't transfer the account into anyone else's name otherwise we'd all be charging our leccy to the cheating ex/ hated MIL/ taskmaster boss!

Also tell the landlord that the supplier is now EDF so that he can contact them when you have left and open an account in his name with them (assuming no new tenants are going in on the day you leave, otherwise he'll tell them the supplier so they can open an account)
