3Com Wireless Problem - Or somthing else?

I've set up one of these wireless routers for a friend (3com wireless connect). Works fine on the wired connection, but the wireless keeps dropping. It's on it's own frequency (so no clashes) with the neighbours, and cheked on two diffrent wireless laptops.

But - curiously when I went to look at the problem, I was using a utility to "watch" the other wireless networks in the area (to see there were no clashes), but periodically I noticed other networks (on differing channels) just Drop and disapear..... It was like there was some type of intererance on the 2.4GhZ frequency that kept blocking and blitzing channels .... they would disapear for a while then come back ....

Just curious to find out if anyone has experienced anything similar.

Video senders and dect phones can cause interference, Ideally you need to choose a channel, 5 channels away from everyone else. Netstumbler only shows networks that broadcast the ssid, so if others have disabled this ( a good idea from a security point of view), you may not see them unless you use Linux utils.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

Thanks .... yes I've looked for all the usual culprits on the 2.4ghz frequency - Wireless networks, video senders, cordless phones, DECT phones, wireless alarm systems, bluetooth devices, some power/remote control systems, many new home automation products, etc .... and have ensured the network I'm setting up is "away" from any others .... the issue I have is somthing is "blilzing" the frequency in the local area .... it's rather strange - although If I take the unit back to my home, there are no problems !!!! - It's like someone has a "rogue" device on the 2.4ghz waveband ....

mimo routers sometimes blitz other wireless users, maybe someone has one in the vicinity?

Possible - I'll ask my friend to some "nosing" around his neighbours and see if that could be the issue.

    Cheers !!
