Missing credit-card payment

Hello. Has anyone had their payments for their credit-card bills go missing? We recently changed our direct debit and because the update was not going to be done in time for the forthcoming statement, we were asked to do a manual payment (in this case, via internet banking funds transfer from a different bank to the credit-card company).
Well, it's been four working days and the payment has not arrived. The bank has confirmed the money has left the current account but as that account was closed two days ago, they are not able to confirm the full 16-digit card number that was used as the payment reference for that payment although I am pretty sure it was all entered correctly (the bank account and sort code of the credit-card company are definitely 100% correct, as it is from a pre-populated pull-down menu and I double checked to make sure as well).
We've called the credit-card company and they have very kindly said they will not impose any fees and will start a missing payment query. Has anyone had an experience where the payment was never found? If so, how did it eventually resolve itself (or not)?

Some online banking systems have a delay in the payment being sent often going the next working day, and then some card providers will have a delay in updating thier records when the money is received into their clearing account often allocation it the next working day.
If 5 days have passed then the money has got stuck somewhere and your bank should be able to find it but it will take some timeThese are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -
They do say to allow up to 5 working days to clear so I wouldnt worry yet.0

Usually there are some delays when you pay online, so it's always not advisable to pay your bill on the due date if you're planning to pay it online. Much better to pay it at the bank location instead..Mr. Mulla0
