i wonder if you could give me some advice to pass onto a friend who is angry at the way she's been treated in argos. i'll copy and paste the relevant part of her message to me below
had to take the boys portable DVD players back today, they're broken and one screen is going blue.
Anyway only bought them last april, and we took out the extended warranty. The ones we bought are no longer in the catalogue, so they offered us ones the same price but smaller screen, said didn't want those ones as we have bigger screens, it worked out i had to pay extra to get the screen size we had.
Then they asked me if i wanted warranty on these new ones, I said well no as i still have 2yrs left on others, but they said that because it's a different model that is now nil and void. I paid £26 for 3yrs and now they want £44 for another 3yrs. when i question the increase, she just said prices go up
She also had problems with them giving her incorrect service details for a camcorder that had broken, but to me that's not the issue - it doesn't seem right that she should have had to pay more to ensure like for like replacement and to then buy a warranty again
any advice appreciated

there's normally a condition in the small print that you can have the item repaired as many times as you need but once you have the item replaced that's the end of your warranty. Can you see the mountains through the fog?0

I have used these Argos extended warranties for years, and that's exactly how it works. If they have the exact iem and it needs replacing rather than repairing, you get like for like. If not, you get the value of the item back to put towards a replacement (have had a giftcard before). YOu need to buy a new extended warranty for the new item as it counts as a new pruchase. It's like car insurance in a way, if your car's written off you get the oney for a new car, and you start a new insurance policy for the replacement car. I have found it worthwhile, I have two clmsy boys and we have gone theough four Nintendo Ds' which I could never have afforded to replace fully without the warranty. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Can anyone help me please? I have a Bush PVR model number BUPVR160F1 purchased from Argos around December 2008, does anyone know the Argos catalogue number. Am trying to get a replacement from them but without the receipt they want the part number.0

If they were bought in April 2010 then you are entitled to a refund on the insurance as you are still under the normal 1 year guarantee and are not using the insurance until year 20
