The person named as paying on the spoof paypal email has the same name as the ebay buyer.Whom, incidently, joined ebay tonight and 'bought' my phone and has her address listed as a college...
Are any of the emails coming through Ebay? Are they all going to your email address?
Does your email address and your user name have similarities?
If so I'd suggest changing your user name or your email address used for Ebay and Paypal.

No,they're going direct to my email.

No similarities in the ebay username and my email address so I guess they had got my email address through ebay somehow? That or it might be in the payment details I sent out as had a payment to a different paypal account a while back

In that case just report it all through Ebay. From your other post it sounds like you're being targetted in some way or they have your email address from another source.
I'd say set up a new email account for Ebay transactions and then you'll know if emails go to the old account.

Very dodgy!! Don't send anything to nigeria!! Refund the money as this is one of the biggest scams on ebay. Check on goofbay to see what else they have bought, it will be mainly high price goods lots of similar items. Report it to ebay and you will get your fvf's back. Soolin can tell you more, she's ace with eBay stuff.
There is no money to refund....not a good idea to tell someone to "refund the money" as they might panic and actually go ahead and send them what they think is a refund.

If I may be honest here, it sounds like your friend should have his ebay account removed form him until he understands a few basics.

Falls for a common scam which is unfortunate but so easily avoided if you make a habit of logging into paypal for high end goods to ensure that the payment is in there and the address shows 'OK to send'. Then completely fails to understand seller responsibility about insuring themselves against loss in the post and having online tracking in case of a paypal chargeabck. Then whislt two basic errors would appear to be unfortunate to compound that by not even understanding Royal Mail requirements re insured values and using standard post is almost criminal negligence.

Also if address is fake it makes you wonder how the laptop actually arrived anywhere doesn't it?
