Given promotion & payrise but not forthcoming: advice please!

Hi guys, hoping for a little bit of advice. Can't get hold of CAB as they are only open for a few hours a day and as I'm at work I can't keep on trying (they're always busy).
Last May, due to a space appearing in the company, I was offered a new position, which I took, with associated pay rise. Since then I have fulfilled the new role with increased responsibilities. However, I have never had any new terms and conditions or pay rise. Someone has been employed in my old role so they can't pretend I am still doing it! There have been redundancies etc hence their reluctance but I replaced someone on more money than I was offered anyway so they would still be saving money!
Do I have any legal come back at all? Tried to chase it through HR but surprise surprise always re-buffed.

anything in writing?Always ask ACAS0

If your role has changed significantly, they should inform you of your new pay and conditions asap imho. Sounds like they are keeping quiet hoping that the redundancies, and the spectre of more will persuade you to keep on working without asking any difficult questions revolving around backpay etc0

Job changed in May 09
Why were you not raising the issue in June with a call to personel/payroll?0 -
I wonder if the best step to take is to email you line manager reminding them of the promotion along with a request that they contact payroll in order to commence the process. This should be done regardless of the redundanices. Of course there is the issue of back pay.
My concern for you would be that should you not be successful and this ended in tribunal, the question would be asked why did you leave it so long, not sure how that would stand.
I wish you all the best with it0 -
What do you mean by rebuffed? Have you contacted HR formally (in writing)?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Did you formally agree a pay increase (% or x amount) or a new salary for your new role with HR/the person who offered you the new position in May or did someone vaguely say that extra responsibilities may entail some extra money? Do you have the new salary in writing/email somewhere?
The reason I ask is because AFAW legally increasing/changing someones workload/responsibilities does not automatically would lead to a pay increase. If you are prepared to keep working for the same money then the company don't have to pay you more.0 -
I have ahad a similar experience where I was told verbally that I would have anew role and that mmore money would eventually come of it. 6 months later I was still waiting, my role never changed and I certainly never saw any more money.
I became so disallusioned after chasing it several times that I quit. Managers must have such busy lives that they don't see how important these things are....
You have to raise this directly with the person who made the offer and ask for somethig in writing by the end of the week.0 -
Hi all, thanks for the replies
To clairify a few points: I was formally offered the new job role and x amount of money, which I accepted. I have chased this up a fair bit by email - does that count as 'in writing'? I have had meetings etc and my manager has hassled senior management so much that she was told to go away. Unfortunately I have chased it more or less informally, which may be my downfall. My manager, who actually made the offer, has pretty much done everything she can and it is further complicated by the fact that I am seconded. I think a good place to start would be to write to HR via snail mail, or at least a letter attached to an email rather than just a quick email. Unfortunately I have absolutely nothing in writing but my manager will back me up if it comes to it.Weight loss: Start weight: 80kg; Current Weight: 77kg; Target weight: 55kg0 -

What do you mean by formally? Do you have this in writing?(email does count as writing as you have a record of what has been said along with timescales)My manager, who actually made the offer, has pretty much done everything she can and it is further complicated by the fact that I am seconded.
Did your manager have the authority to make the offer and the budget to follow it through?0 -
Why not ask your manager to put it in writing ?.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
