Hi again,
Had an item i listed finish last night, there was 2 people bidding right up to the finish. Anyway the person that won just emailed me to say he wouldn't be paying for them as he didn't realise he'd won the item and his girlfriend had bought him the same item today!!!
Any thing that can be done here or just tough luck, i have offered the other bidder the item but no reply yet?
Thanks.

these kind of things do my head in:(.
you need your fv and relisting fees back, but can you rely on the buyer mutually agreeing to cancel the transaction?
if he leaves you negative feedback at least you have his email to prove he never had any intention of paying.
good luck.0 -

Yes there is, wait 4 days and open a npb dispute, wait until day 4 after opening it and close to reclaim you fvfs.
If the buyer does this again or has done this before a 2nd strike will stop them from buying pretty much most things on ebay.
Hope this helps.

I concur, wait 4 days and put in a full NPB dispute, people tend to get in the habit of not paying and with two strikes they effectively ban themselves from ebay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. That's right, after a full 4 days you can just close the dispute, buyer gets a strike and you get your FVFs back. Thanks for your help with this, i opened the case on the 11th so i should close it tmrw?? Is that right?
Thanks again
Don't forget to make sure that you have your seller preferences set to exclude bidders with two or more strikes, it weeds out a lot of time wasters.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. There doesn't seem to be too much pressure on non-paying buyers to pay. Ebay rules state: "When you close the [unpaid item] case, our Trust and Safety team is automatically alerted. Actions may include recording unpaid items on the buyer's account, which can lead to restriction or suspension of that buyer's account."
I had a non-paying buyer, I got my FVF back but he seems to have got away with it - no sign of any strike against him and still has 100% glowing +FB from other sellers. If they can break the rules with impunity it's not fair is it?0 -
As Soolin says, they can't. The 'strikes' don't appear on their account but they are there. You can set buyer restrictions to stop buyers with so many strikes in so many days (there are a variety of levels). I occasionally get emails from such buyers who can't bid, explaining what happened that they never paid for an item and want to bid on mine, so it does work.worbikeman wrote: »If they can break the rules with impunity it's not fair is it?.0
