Is there a time limit on redundancy paynent being made?

Hi
oh been told he is redundant.Yes being told! Its along mixed up story .His boss just thought he could save money that way so we are having to sort this mess out.We know his rights and have requested payment. His boss tried to make out he was shocked that he would have to pay our after 6 yrs. Anyhow we just would like to know if there is a time limit on when he has to pay or do we have to have to worry of going down the legal route?

I suspect you will have to go down the legal route I am afraid. It might be worth formally asking in writing and stating the legislation and the minimum statutory payment required (unless there is a higher contractual payment)....it may just scare him into doing itAlways ask ACAS0

has he actually left yet? Normally payment is received on the day of leaving or thereabouts. Also needing to be considered is has the notice period been given, and is there any holiday accrued not yet taken?Indecision is the key to flexibility0

one week after 2yrs for each year worked and 1.50 weeks after the age of 41
plus any holiday pay and pilon

yes in this case 1 week for all years worked aged under 41 and 1.5 for 41 onward and pilon and holiday pay

If he's still working for them and they are only just getting around to sending the letter out then there is hope yet that they will pay.

He was told if he went subcontract he could have as much work as he wanted.
