I think they offer a flexible option where you pay less a month and pay £50 per call out?

Hello all, I have had Homecare 200 with British Gas for several years now, and currently pay £17 per month. For this I receive an annual boiler service plus a guaranteed emergency call-out in the event of a central heating breakdown.

However I have just received my home insurance cover renewal from esure, and they offer home emergency cover for an extra £4 per month, which also guarantees an emergency call-out from a professional in the event of a central heating breakdown.

    So doing a quick calculation,

    BG Homecare £17 x 12 = £204 per year

    Home Emergency Cover £4 x 12 = £48 per year
Separate Annual Boiler Service say £60

Result an annual saving of approx £100

It seems like a no-brainer, especially as my energy supplier npower usually offer boiler services during the summer even cheaper, but I would welcome any comments, or if there is anything I might have overlooked, such as an exit penalty from BG.

    Many thanks

How many times have you had to use the emergency call-out service during the several years you have held this policy?
Then work out what you would have spent on those call outs and servicing had you contracted them as and when needed?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
