Hi!
I know I should probably buy a new HD Freeview compliant LCD TV, but I'm not ready to say goodbye to my old 14" Panasonic TV (has 1 scart port, and AV input and output ports). I've made do with downloading to iplayer for catching up with BBC 3 & 4..., but would like to watch BBC 4 and News Channel etc when I like. So.... can anyone recommend a good value freeview box?
Thanks

I presume you live in an area where there is a good digital signal and do not have an existing satellite dish that could easily be converted to using freesat http://www.freesat.co.uk/
If you are planning on watching on your old tele then pick a value box like ASDA http://direct.asda.com/Asda-Twin-Scart-Set-Top-Freeview-Box/000585702,default,pd.html?cm_mmc=gb-_-merch-_-4044-_-STBTW01 for £17
or tesco http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.206-3166.aspx £18 as there is no point on any thing too high tech for the old teleFreebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A0 -
Go along to Tesco, Asda or Argos. You should get one for sub £20.0

If you do have an existing satellite dish (sky dish) then from £29 get over 140 channels http://www.freesat.co.uk/index.php?page=products.MainFreebies you don't really need can be given to your local Hospice Charity shop so they can raise funds they desperately need. Pass on your good fortune :A0

Thanks everyone. Good remidner about not really needing a high end set-top box for my old TV. I hadn't really considered Tesco, but will check it out.

I am using a freeview box from Asda and it's perfectly fine with my old (ish) Panny CRT.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0

Well - I'm in a new build (c2008) - I currently plug in the TV aerial into an aerial port on an AV panel which also has an satellite port - whether this is active and does anything I don't know....perhaps I'll ask other residents?Free thinker.:cool:0 -

If all else fails you could buy a freesat box online and try it out. If it doesn't work you can send it back under the 14 day distance selling regulations.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0 -
