Citibank Flexible Saver

On 7 September 2006, as a result of last month's BoE base rate rise, Citibank finally raised the rate payable on its online, instant access Flexible Saver, as follows:

5.20% gross (up from 5.00 gross) 5.03% AER - includes a 0.55% bonus rate for the first 6 months - earned on balances of £10,000 plus. Interest is paid monthly.

This week, Citibank reduced the minimum balance on which it pays 5.2% gross from £10,000 to £1!

The Citibank Flexible Saver now joins Birmingham Midshires at the top of the savings tables. Both accounts include introductory bonus rates for a limited period

The account comes with a card, so you can withdraw cash at any VISA/Link ATM

Interest would appear to be paid monthly, too (BMS is annual). The bonus of 0.55% gross is for 6 months which means the underlying rate is 4.65% gross (BMS is 12 mths).
