'Payless' propagator
Hi....don't know if this will be of interest to anyone, but I bought a great little electric propagator at the weekend as with it being so cold, my peppers & chillies were refusing to come up even though they were indoors! I was in Focus-do-it-all looking for something else entirely & my partner spotted the propagators in the 'Payless' range (green & white box) and at £14-99, I thought that was pretty good so bought one. Peppers & chillies now sprouting! :T

B&Q had some heated ones at £10, and unheated at £4. First time I 've used a heated propagator, well worth the money. My son, in his first veggie growing year, bought one, and says exactly the same.0

After asking advice on here, i bought the B & Q heated one for £9.99 but i also bought some which said online they where budget propogators from Homebase for £3.99. I wasn't expecting much from the description so opened the box before i bought it to see how they looked & they are nice & solid the make is Stewarts so i got two & the nasty flimsy ones from Lidl have been made redundant for now untill i run out of sowing space!.
My sons chillis/peppers have now been moved in to heated prop so hoping to see some results soon!.0 -
The ones at B&Q unheated were just the same, great and solid and with a nice high lid so small plants can go in there and do a bit of growing in the warmth, and ventilation slits. Well worth the money, and will last for a good few seasons. It's good to have a bit of choice around the same bargain prices.0

Oh well, my nearest Wilkinsons is 16miles away(wish one was closer) & i don't drive so had to settle with Homebase as homebase is only a few miles from my house, but was happy with this price, at that they are still worth it. I only stumbeled upon the homebase one online after kicking myself for not buying the unheated B & Q ones when i was there as they did look good like GILLIAN 62 mentioned above but i think these are a match.0 -
I might get one at B&Q tomorrow I got some seeds just planted today in unheated cheap propagator0

i bought this one last week, now have peppers staring to grow, very pleased

Wow! There are obviously some even cheaper heated ones out there, but I am happy with the one I got at Homebase & posted about as it's still good value. Even the Jalapeno seeds are starting to shoot now. They have taken weeks, despite first having them on an indoor windowsill in an unheated propogator. Having an electric one seems to have made all the difference & I wish I'd bought one years ago!2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
