Electric meter not working

I put a thread on here a couple of weeks ago, because my electric bill for last quarter was £2.50.
I checked that the meter serial number was same - which it was.
I looked at meter and wheel thing was moving too.
Rang N-power and said I wanted to query my bill. Told them I had rang up months ago (Prob 6-8 months earlier) querying bill, as they were charging me £100 per month gas and only £2 per month electric!, but they said it should be right as I has been giving meter readings in and also electric man had been out to read my meter. I told them that £2.50 must surely be wrong and I would like someone to come out and check my meter. Someone is coming out to look at it in a fortnight. How will they know when it stopped working properly?
I have been with them 3 years and am now worried about getting a massive bill. I asked the person on phone that if my meter is faulty (which I think it is), then how would they know how much electric I have used.
He said it would be estimated.
Do I just have to agree to this estimate?

Usually yes, unless you have some reason to argue that the estimate is not realistic compared to your actual usage at that time."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

How long have you been paying only £2.50pm? How much were you paying before that-or do you believe the meter has been broken for 3 years?
I'm having trouble understanding how you could think that your electricity consumption could be only £30pa recently? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If the meter is faulty, they will replace it and probably get you to take reading for several days to determine your consumption which will allow them to estimate.
When you speak to them, check if they have a record of you contacting them several months ago about your bill. If they do and they did nothing about it despite you only using a few pounds a month I would argue against paying anything extra becuase they have failed to investigate the matter properly. The industry has average 'Estimated Annual Consumption' figures against which they can check useage and they also calculate an EAC for each house. If your EAC is VERY low then they should have picked this up via meter readings being validated.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
