Van rental insurance

Hi all.

I was thinking of buying a campervan / small motorhome and rent it out.

Don't seem to be able to find a suitable website for quoting insurance ...

Can anyone help here?

Often they offer you some in with price of hiring vehicle.

If you have insurance already for another vehicle the company sometimes will allow you to add a vehicle to your policy even if only for a short time.

The websites are generally aimed at the big market (people covering their own cars), you sound like you are intending to start a business hiring out the camper so get in touch with a broker or two

It is very expensive, the last one of these I placed was with compucar (Now called compuquote).

I would suggest you get quotes asap, before you commit any money so you understand the potential costs. Also take into account that when you rent the van out there will normally be a lot of miles put on it so make sure you take into account depreciation

Or go with an agency like http://www.motorhomegroup.com/index.asp, you get 75% of the rental and they make sure it is looked after. I think they have £1000 insurance excess demands and £500 deposit so it forces the people hiring your van to look after it.

Most people are enthusiasts who wouldn't rent out their MH, also if you rent it out you can't be using it yourself!
