My son planted some garlic cloves at a show at the weekend in a pot. Where is best to put it?.
i've heard garlic needs a cold snap to thrive, but is it too cold to go out at the moment?,
if so where is the best place for it. The garlic will have to be kept in containers as i have no garden.
I live in North Yorkshire & we are still having cold frosty nights here.
Thanks

Stick it outside, as you are having frosts [we are to, in Hampshire] then this may just be the cold snap it needs

FARWAY= Thank you, i've just had it inside at the moment while deciding what to do with it, should i cover it on a night (in a plastic bag or something)as with the frosty nights here i'm sure the soil will be freeze! or is that what it needs?
    Thanks so much.

Hi Furny - no need to cover garlic as it is super hardy. I planted mine in October outside, and it got as low as -17C here (and they are still growing fine).Just make sure you planted them the correct way up i.e. with the pointed bit upwards.

If they need some freezing temperatures to be able to grow, what about putting the pot in the freezer for a day or two? Would that help?

(I have no idea, I have just thought of it...)

anyway - inspired by this, I planted some garlic in a pot last night. I had a head of pink garlic left, which is a bit expensive and we like it, so it would be great if it would grow...
