Hi Folks
As most of you know i am a neewbie.
Sorry if this seems a really silly question but how many seeds do you use when sowing for peppers, chillis, toms etc & anything else.
I've read other threads from people who started last year etc giving neewbie advice saying things like "don't sow full packets like i did etc!ha!" so how many do you roughly use.
I know in years to come i'll laugh at these simple questions but for now i've not got a clue! help!

Peppers... normally 6-10.. 1 per pot..
    Chillis as above..
    Toms.. anywhere around 20-30
    Cucumbers.. 6-10
    Squash - 5
    sweetcorn 10-20
beans - 15 of each sort
    Pumpkins - 3
    Courgettes - 6

remember to sow a few every month or two as you will have a steady amount through out teh growing season..

also look at number of people you are feeding and how often you will eat when you grow!remember...they start off in little pots.. but do grow alot larger!!
    and of course... SPACE!!

I will say it again.. it is all based on
    1. how much space you have in your garden to plant it all out in..
    2. People you are looking to feed.

Also you will not always get plants from every seed.. so plan for about a 75% success rate from all seeds down. Whatever you do not use give it to someone who will eat it :)

It really just comes down to how much space you have. For instance, I have room for 6 tomatoes in my greenhouse border and 6 in large pots outside, so I sow about 15 seeds. This allows for one or two non-germinations or later failures and if they all succeed, well then I have a few extra to swap with family or friends for different plants. For lettuces, I don't want more than abouot a couple of week's worth to be ready all at once, so I sow about 12 at a time and when they are planted out into the garden, that's when I get the next 12 seeds sown.

1 per pot depending on how big the pots are.. if in doubt 1 per pot.

    3-4 people.. hmmm
6-10 tomato plants.. and after you have sown these first seeds.. sow another 6 in a month or so time.. keep your crop going :)

If you grow too much or too little.. dont worry.. its all about learning and having fun.

You will never get it 100% .. no one will :)
