Cheapest freestanding heater and fuel type for one room?

I'm soon to be moving to a house which has oil central heating. I was thinking about buying something such as an electric hot air heater for just one room when I'm alone in the house and just want to take the chill off the air briefly.
Can anyone suggest the cheapest way of doing this please, both in terms of the price of the heater and in terms of fuel consumption?
Thank you.

No can do either! Life-saving surgery affecting my personal temperature guage makes me boil as fast as turning on a light if I over-wrap or have a heat source on me!
Would be funny if it wasn't true...hence the need for a heater I can switch on and off rapidly in one oom which neither costs the earth to buy nor to run.

Fan heater or a convector with a thermostat. Buy for around £20.
Fan heater will warm your room up quicker than a convector but will be noisy.
Bought one of these recently for emergencies.
