Struggling today

Have already bought a coffee this morning and am now reading forum whilst munching on a bought ciabatta for lunch. That's over £5 spent today.

Some days it's just hard not to spend money.

Back on the horse....Sigh.:rotfl:

Oh well - enjoy it now you have paid for it!

Maybe you can think of a way to have really cheap lunches for the rest of the week to restore the status quo.

And as slips go, whilst every £5 counts at least you didn't have a £50 or £500 blow out!

Ach I know. I had homemade soup in with me but it was frozen solid so I used that as an excuse to buy a much tastier lunch.

You are right though- it could be worse.

Funny that some days are just worse than others. I think it's the back to work blues after having had a practically no spend weekend.

Always have tinned soups in you can just take, or sandwiches in the freezer - they have usually unfrozen by dinnertime.
Just enjoy the lunch now, we all fall for it sometimes, its only £5 at the end of the day.
    Have fun.

I think it can be like dieting - if you starve yourself too much the 'devil' inside you just wants to go a little crazy now and then.

That said I'm just thinking how nice a ciabatta would be....... oops, will try to resist!

Can you incorporate into your budget a 'treat myself to coffee and lunch' every so often? I.e if you know you are allowed it and can look forward to it then you are less likely to let slip at other times??
I have saturday/sunday coffee shop time where I take my book, enjoy a hot drink and read and chill. I wont let myself buy a coffee any other time and actually, I enjoy it more each week rather than slipping into the routine of having it every day.
Even on a budget you have to be nice to yourself- I feel its a bit like dieting- ban everything and you will just eat all the banned foods- if you ban all spending you are more likely to want to go and overspend, whereas little treats here and there might just help!

I did treat myself to a new £4 t-shirt the other day. Which I felt quite guilty about until I sat down to watch the Oscars coverage on the telly. All those women with their $2000 dresses and $800 hairdos

I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your ciabatta and coffee, don't beat yourself up over it. (Back to bread and water for the rest of the week though! :rotfl:)

I totally feel your pain. I am trying to get to grip with NSD's my new year resolution. For me its not the big amounts, its the pennies here and there.

I try to make lunch - plan ahead
I try to leave the purse at home
I try to meal plan so we dont get the "cant be bothered" takeaways

But with all this in mind - i am still struggling to get to 6 NSD per month

You might want to join a challenge or two - it is working for me ( most of the time:o)

    Best Wishes

    Thanks guys. :)

I just got home at 8pm there and managed not to spend any more- although was tempted by a can of diet coke...Buy me....it pleaded...90p I thought...no way.

I really struggle with the NSDs, tried that - informally- with myself this month and have not been that great at it.

Perhaps I need to get into it formally so I have a task or two.

    Cheers for the pep talks!
