i am having a sudden urge to go to cambodia next year. Does anyone know what sort of price range flights are. i would be going from belfast but afrom anywhere in the uk would be cool as there are plenty of budget airlines about.
noticed htoels are pretty damn cheap but wondering if it safer to book a apckage rather than separately.
also thinking about thailand or vietnam also.
any advice appreciated.
thanks

Bangkok is the gateway to Cambodia and other countries in Indochina. From there you could spend some time before flying off to Siem Reap or Phnom Penh. Quite a few airlines operate on these routes, including budget Thai AirAsia.
If you intend to go to Siem Reap for Angkor Wat alone, then AirAsia also flies direct from Kuala Lumpur.0 -
what sort of prices should i expect to pay for flights?love you lots like jelly tots

I'm swanning off to Thailand next month
Direct flight with Thai Airline is £700. Thats Heathrow to Bangkok. I'm better off without you.0 -
Depending on the time of travel, flights to Bangkok can cost less than £400. A recommended indirect carrier is Etihad Airways.
At the moment a direct flight with Thai Airways from London is around £425, inclusive of charges.
For connecting flights. consider http://www.bangkokair.com/ and their http://www.bangkokair.com/discoveryairpass/ Discovery Airpass, if you intend to visit Angkor Wat and Phnom Penh. For Bangkok - Siem Reap - Phnom Penh - Bangkok, expect to pay around £170.
Not a package tour person myself, you'll need to make your own decision on this.

I'm doing a tour of Thailand through a company called Gecko Travel; https://www.geckotravel.com. They do tours to other Indoasia countries like Vietnam and Cambodia so might be helpful for you.
Gecko Travel (so far) have been a pleasure to deal with.
Other companies I looked at were:

Being a Moneysaving tight...erm expert, it's a rather expensive way of going about it.
Though it's certainly an alternative for the lone traveller.0 -
I went to Vietnam for almost a month 2 years ago and did a tour with Travel Indochina. I started at Hanoi then took an overnight train to Hue then coach from there stopping off at Hoi An, Qui Nhon, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Cu Chi and then ending up in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). I saw loads of stuff and really had the holiday of a lifetime.
You could do what you wanted in each place or go on optional excursions that the tour company had arranged. I did a mix of both.
I really loved it there and would love to go back there again one day. I have a website about the holiday but I will PM it to you. They won't let me put it on here as I built it on free webspace and it has adverts on it :rolleyes:2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
If you intend to go purely to Angkor then Bangkok is probably the best place to go, but you could also go via Kuala Lumpar if you want to see the rest of the country0

That's a little cheeky, rjh.
You ask a specific question, it's answered, but no thanks are proffered.
It's good form to thank those who try to help you.0 -
