ACF Car Finance

Can someone help me my husband bought a car from ACF Finance and was told PPI was essential to get associated loan. We knew nothing of single Premium payment or GAP and after paying off all payments, realised paid £5563.67 PPI for a £6100 car. I have wrote 3 letters and after sending everything last week to financial Ombudsman today they have offered a mere £1000 what do we do. Asked Ombudsman but they say they are so behind can not look at our details for at least a week.
Dont want to accept can someone advise ?

    Hi and welcome.

The Financial ombudsman service are over-run with backlogs of complaints, some if straight forward can take up to 6-8 weeks after your case have been passed on to an adjudicator, but sometimes if the other party does not agree with the adjudicators decision, your case has the opportunity to be moved on to the ombudsman himself.
However, this can take a long time.

Sorry to be the bearer of this news, but some are still waiting over a year to 2 because of the hefty amount of these complaints.

I see you have had an offer, depending if your happy or not to accept this its up to you.
But if your happy just let the FOS know so they can close your file.
Otherwise if this was the final offer response and not happy - you have done the right thing in taking it to the FOS.

If this was not the final response, you could ask them to reconsider and ask for a higher amount for your to consider.

As your case is with the FOS, keep them updated of anything you receive from the business so they know what is what.

Sorry If I have mis read on this, hope this all goes your way for you, fingers crossed.;)
