some people do write things in their birth plan that are just not possible ..

i remember one lady who wanted all the lights turned out in theatre when her baby was delivered by elective section
Did she mean dimmed? Or pitch black?
Were the surgeons to wear miners lamps on their heads? :rotfl:

at the point of delivery she wanted the room to be dark

bless her , it was explained to her that this couldn't happen and she was fine about it :D

I wrote on my birth plan 'no forceps!'- I have horrible fear (be it irrational) of them. As it was they could not even induce me into labour at over 2 weeks overdue, so I had a nice calm elective section!
Remember everyone though, it was a specific type of forceps used here, not forceps in general!
Took us a wee while to establish feeding (about a week or so) but it seemed to be fine once we left hospital and got on the boat to go home!

My son was delivered by forceps and I didn't really have much of an option... They did ask me first but said that it was probably the only way of him coming out because his head was stuck and he was back to back!

Although it wasn't exactly pleasant or how I had planned the birth, my son wasn't at all hurt and it meant I got to hold him sooner rather than later!

You just have to make the best decision you can under the circumstances! It might not even come to that!

    Good luck! :j
