I have paid them £100 this month and will continue to do so just worried that they will pass the debt to a debt collector but suppose just have to wait and see what they do next.0

Hi missb well as i stated in my first post getting this passed to a debt collector could be the best thing for you as a debt collectors (after you have gotten passed their silly threats) usually have a bit more room on their system to allow for repayment plans.
just try to keep in mind that most people you speak to on the phone are in call centres and have the general mentality of "computer says no" whereas debt collectors have a bit more open system which has been designed to allow for different situations. yes they might try to get you to jump through hoops but just make sure everything you do with them is done in writing. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY SAY ON THE PHONE!!! and when you get your letters keep your eyes alert for the may, might and coulds that they will have in them which are designed to make people panic without actually holding much weightDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
I might be tempted to write a complaint letter to them and point out everything from your first post about how you are trying to get this sorted and that 100 pounds (or whatever is all you can afford) - given that they have messed you about so much I'd be interested to see what they say - they might suddenly find they can accept your payment plan after all. You might as well give it a go.

Hi,
Most of my debt was with HSBC, two overdrafts and a loan totalling around £3500. This got passed onto Metropolitan debt collectors which i have since found out is still part of hsbc? Anyway they are EVIL to talk to on the phone, but i offered them £50 a month and they accepted it no problem, apart from the rudeness on the phone they are actually easier to deal with than the people at hsbc. don't worry too much about the letter, i had lots of these and nothing ever happened except it going to metropolitan.0 -
My post is not as helpful as everyone elses but I do understand what you mean about HSBC - we have been with them for years - we took a loan to consolidate some debt and that was one of the worst financial decisions we ever made. They are always phoning with sales calls but when you need to sort something out they are useless! We too have switched to another bank but like you we have to pay off the overdraft.
One piece of advise I would give you is to write to them instead of ringing - I'm sorry but you do end up phoning India and we have found that they dont always understand terms (sunch as your credit file). Also, you are speaking to a different person each time and things are not always properly logged on your notes. In branch they are useless - they cant help just give you the phone to use. By writing you usually get a fairly comprehensive letter back. I would write and complain that they have been unhelpful - They will probably tell you that its their poilicy etc, etc but you should log your complaint so they can see are not happy with their un-co-operation!!0 -
I am having a nightmare with HSBC, I have a loan with them and rang them to explain my hours had been cut at work and that I could no longer make my payment of £348 and that I would only be able to make an offer payment of £60, this was July! They still took 2 x payments of £248 which made me go over drawn even after ringing them god knows how many times, I finally got to speak to a lovely lady in sheffield who arrange for an overdraft to be put on my account so I wasn't getting bank charges, however she didn't set up the payment for the £60! Every month I go through the same phone call and explain the situation, every month they say they will take the payment of £60 and every month they don't!!! I have even written to them and I have never recieved a response, I am at my wits end with them. I am just in the process of getting a DMP set up with payplan so I hope to god this gets sorted once and for all! :eek:0

HSBC collections are the worst I have dealt with. Just pay them whatever you can. They may sell you on to a DCA but this is no bad thing. Interest, charges and phone calls will stop.
Don't speak to them on the phone any more. You can't reason with their junior collections staff - they're not trained for it.My Debt Free Diary I owe:

Aug 16 £19519 Dec 16 £17708
Sep 16 £18780 Jan 17 £17082
Oct 16 £178730
