Received SAR - no copy of loan held now

well I got the SAR back and Llodys TSB are saying my personal loan which was paid off April 1997 is too long ago for them to have a copy of the loan application.
I was hoping to attempot to claim back PPI as we were told by the manager at the time we could get a car loan from them "if we took the PPI". I remember it as clear as day! We were young and silly and didn't know any better.

Can anybody advise where to go from here, or is it a lost cause? SAR lists the fixed interest loan we took, and dates we paid it off etc.

They said in their letter my entitlement under the act is to personal data rather than photocopies of all documents.

If you have the account numbers then you still try to reclaim if you know your reasons.

photocopies aren't going to help you in any way.

It is not unreasonable for them to no longer hold information on a loan that was repaid in 1997. You can still complain but you would expect them to reject it as you have no proof and given the timescale that has gone by they will probably say its was too long ago.
