Just to let anyone know who's LCD packs up and it to expensive
to repair then ---dont dump it----ebay has a roaring trade on them
some fetching up to 150 quid--average 70 ish so dont throw 70 quid
in the bin ebay it.

There's a raft of information all over t'interwibble regarding failed LCD TV's.
There is a good chance the fault is a couple of blown capacitors on the PSU which cost about 50p from Maplins.
Anyone with a mediocre understanding of Soldering can quite easily replace them.
It's worth a punt when we are talking about a TV costing £350 upwards.
I agree though, if the capictors don't fix it.... ebay it and let some other chump try the same..0 -

A very high % [ 80% guesstimate ] can be easily fixed for a £2.80 Maplins purchase, and it includes plasma sets as the problem & solution is the same, the specific issue is generally brand agnostic.
I've got one ready to de-board and re-solder later this afternoon ! if I get time.
You are right to tell people it's often DIY for a fiver or £800 for a replacement, there were some posts about 3 or 4 weeks ago on these boards.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
