What can I expect a boiler installer to do?

Maybe an odd one this. We're having our old combi replaced and also re-sited from an upstairs bathroom to a downstairs lobby. We had 4 quotes (all within £200 of each other, surely a record!) and went with a medium-sized firm, partly because they sent a detailed specification for the job.
Now a week before the job is due to start we received a letter saying that we should lift carpets before they arrive. This would be OK, but no-one knows where the existing pipework goes, and so we would have to empty a bedroom in our small and crowded house on the off-chance that the pipes cross the room.
There was no mention of this in the otherwise detailed spec and I intend to reply saying that I would hope that the fitters would be able to lift whatever bits of carpet need to come up taking reasonable care. The chances are it will be the edge of the bedroom only and a tiny landing.
Is that fair?

Hi
Generally I would ask the customer to round up any small breakable items and put them somewhere safe. I am happy to move furniture and lift carpets but the nick knacks are a bit time consuming to move.
After a rad has been fitted in a room or any pipework done under a floor, you wouldn't know I had been there unless some of the furniture isn't in the right place.
Quite often I don't know which room I will start in until I get there.
I draw the line at houses that have a small path through the room with 'stuff' piled up in every other part of the room.;)

Thanks guys - maybe the company is trying it on. It did look like a standard letter along the lines of "make sure everything is in place to save us time"! It even included a requirement to have a power supply ready even though the quote included providing a power supply...0
