I always take my car to a MOT centre that dont do any work themselves. Sometimes they point out a few bits that might need doing through the year but my cars have always passed. I just feel that sometimes garages will say things need doing to make a few extra quid

Agree with this - I have my car MoTed by the local council. The only downside is that if/when it fails the council here don't do free retests like some garages do. However they also don't have an ulterior motive for saying that work is needed :)

My son took his Citroen Xantia (R reg) to a Citroen main dealers for MOT, failed on loads of things. He was quoted £2000 labour charges plus parts costs including renewing all the braking system. He took it 1 week later to a small garage in another town, which I've used, it failed but was out the same day with MOT after repairs. Total cost £136.
Was the next move by Citroen to offer a "good" trade in price to encourage him to trade in?

    Hi

I've tried using the MOT check thing but it's saying incorrect details, which numbers should I be putting in? I've tried a few times
