Hi all, can you advise.
I like everyone else have been trying to reclaim my bank charges, I did using the old templates on here get money back through financial hardship from Abbey then the court case came, so got the standard letter saying sorry but thats that. Anyway in waiting on the new letter coming on here, I got in touch with a law company, not wanting to say who as I am sure they come on here, so they took on my case and sent letter to Abbey with new template jargon and said if we dont here within 7 days we will go to small claims, so I left it for about 2 working weeks and heard nothing from Abbey so emailed Law firm to say heard nothing, no response from them, so by now I have emailed 3 times and called twice and still have no reply from them, what should i do give up I am so annoyed they think it is ok to ignore me when they wanted the case in the first place, any one any ideas whats the next step I should take or should I just ask for my stuff back from them and plod on myself?
Appreciate any advice, thanks

If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.;)

If you want a job doing properly, do it yourself.
Martin's guide to reclaiming bank charges tells you exactly how to do it yourself at no cost (except for the price of a couple of stamps, and some court fees if you lose)

However, beware of the terms of your existing contract you now have with this company as it may entitle them to a share of anything you recover even if you do the work yourself.
Perhaps your best bet maybe to hope the company goes bust soon if it hasn't already done so, as most of them often do since they usually fail to get any money back nowadays. Reclaiming bank charges (except in cases of financial hardship which the bank has already paid out to you on) is not easy or guaranteed."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

Thanks for your reply, think you are right, this law place is non profiting so ok with them not getting paid or anything, just annoyed I get no response, went in today and left a message again so if I dont hear anything will just ask for my paperwork back and do it myself. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.;)

They may be a non-profit making organisation, but unless they make enough money to cover their costs, like any business they won't be around for long

If, as is the recommendation, they don't charge any money up front but rather deduct their fees from any successful reclaims, and they don't have any successful reclaims, they will go bust. (unless they are funded from other means)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Thank you I will take that on board, will give them one more week and try myself, I would have thought Abbey would have replied to the letter they had sent by now though. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.;)
