HFC (Restons) issued CC Forms Urgent Help Required

Can anyone please help quickly. I have a £3k CC debt with HFC althought the original CC compnay was Marbles if I remember correctly. My business folded last year and I owe £20k to my brother which I borrowed to start the company 3years ago. I also owe another £5k on a personal guarantee to a supplier and around another £5 on other CC and to halifax bank. These are being dealt with seperately and are for background info only.
The HFC card was used to try and keep the company going but customers did not pay up quickly enough before the company went under.
I defauled on payments to HFC in Oct/Nov as I am not working since the company folded and i dont claim any benefits at the moment.
HFC passed on CC debt to Restons to chase. I have since separated from my wife and drop by every 2 weeks or so to see my son. Restons have tried calling the house but wont tell her anything without my permission and asked for my current address and phone number, she gave number but no address. I also collect any mail or mesasges when I visit. Restons have left a few messages which I have never replied to. I do not answer calls if I do not know the callers number so have never spoken to them.
I was given a letter yesterday 6/3/10 dated the 3/3/10 from Northampton CC as Restons have now started court proceedings. It says the debt is part of an agrement made back on or aroun Oct 1999.
I can not afford for a CCJ to be registered against me and was wondering of there anything that can be donw to stop or delay the proceedings, maybe just to give me enough time to try and reach a settlement direct with HFC or Restons if I must. I had previously requested a true and signed copy of the agreement using the templates on this site and sent a postal order for a £1, but i forgot to send it recorded. Could imention/use this as a stalling method to buy some time. If I could get a reduced settlement figure I may be able to meet the offer its reasonable.
Any help would be appreciated as I only have a few days to respond to court forms I believe.

as its issued by the bulk processing center online, play dim and defend the claim online advising that you dispute the debt and that you have had no response. this will then basically kick it from the online process. It will make them respond. But mostly be honest with them0
