Pipes in walls

Hello - i'm doing the chasing for the electrics and I'm thinking that whilst I'm so dusty that I could chase in ready for changing the open coal fire to a gas fire (i've still got a 'real' fire in another room).

I was going to wrap a piece of 25mm plastic conduit it yellow tape and bury it in the wall, ready to have a gas pipe dropped down it at somepoint in the (hopefully not to distant) future.

This would then mean only a limited about of work to connect it.

If this is ok -- How deep should I bury the pipe in the wall?

thanks!

well, in the end I've used some 20mm plastic conduit, I've sprayed it yellow and i've buried in a chase about 40mm deep.

It's accessible from above to drop the copper gas pipe down, and will need linited work at the bottom to drill through into the base of the hearth and pipe inserted and soldered to the drop, when I have gas and the coal fire is removed.
