  • Of course, before the police pull you in for not being in full control of your vehicle, they'll first check your car's details against the Police National Computer. They'll do this with their handheld radio, at which point they'll have to give themselves a ticket for not being in full control of their vehicle. Before doing that, they have to radio in their own details, and then ...

just think how much they could make for fining people who smoke when driving, plus they get two goes, fine them for littering when thet flick their fag ash and butts out the window....

there probably have been more accidents caused by dropping a lit fag in the drivers lap thn by a dropped apple or spilled drink....fine the smokers I say...apply the law equally and fairly across the board.

On long journeys I'm always eating and drinking when driving. Don't see an issue with it myself, I tend to drive one handed most of the time anyway.

I never eat during driving, but I do drink water during driving sometimes.

On motorways, often there is no welcome breaks over a long distance (which can be anything from 10 to 100 miles depending on where you drive).

Not drinking water during these stretches can be tiresome.

AFAIK, you are not allowed to pull up in hard shoulder for just drinking water (or taking a nap).
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

I once saw someone weaving along my road. I thought "I bet that idiot's on his mobile", but I was wrong.

He was putting in eyedrops

There's a specific exemption in law for CB radios and the like. Something to do with the frequency they use. I think its the same exemption that allows truckers to use their radios while driving as well.

Or they just use the car kit in the vehicle so as not to break the law.

Not aware of the CB exemption you refer to rev, I'll look it up. Either way, Police radios are far removed from cbs and the like, they're tetra now so work digital frequencies of around 2ghz I think.

Ah you're probably right actually. I seem to remember it depending on the frequency the device used rather than what the device looked like...

From the Construction and Use Regulations:
