12 - 14 MOT's 1 hour per MOT? Skimping somewhere, Doesnt the computer say that test was too short?

£40 for an MOT? I dont pay that.

Business is so good they have to join this site and hint at where there MOT station is and the price of the MOT. :D

£155k profit in the 1st year. Thats a miracle.

Whats your rent and rates £20 a year? Was this in 1960?

You sound like a spammer to me. So as above the real figures are???

Good luck to you, but are you sure you haven't confused your profit with your turnover?

Hi read all messages and replies. I can understand your concerns and advice given, but I never looked back!!! I had £7,000 start up and the deposit for a site. Took 3 months to set up an MOT station. Leased the equipment, used ebay to find all the other used stuff I needed, 2 post ramps, engine hoist, tools etc!!!!! With the advertising, the mechanical works and all the collecting of vehicles I did, I turn over a fantastic amount of money!!! We do 12 -14 MOT'S on a daily basis. Open up at 8am & close 6.30pm. At £40 an MOT plus repairs, do the maths!!! Its about location - you as a person - your staff - quality of works carried out & being honest!!!!! My test station - garage in Hertford is in a quite Industrial estate with no other MOT station or garage near me. I had to graft to get work and put my self around. I was honest polite & friendly and I do well.
Greed will not get you a reputation but being honest, friendly & NO BULL!!!!! will get you far. Been trading 1 year now and turned over £155,000 PROFIT after paying rent rates electric gas and 3 staff wages!!!!!
I have read all the negative reports on this site and it amazes me what people do. 5 mots a day???? Advertising £500 a week??? Set up costs??? £20,000 not enough???? Please do not listen to these quotes!!!! look at you location and do a bit of research and if after that you feel it and want it....... GO FOR IT!!!!!

    13 average x £40 x 6 days a week, x 52 weeks a year
    equals £162,240 a year.
Three salaries, no idea, say £60k?
So already over 50k needed in repairs.
So 25 hours a week at £40 an hour.
4 hours a day, on top of the mot.

Plus the other costs as well.

    it's good you're going though.
  • Hi everyone.
It's my first time on this site and I was Hoping that someone might be able to help me.
Basically I work in a bus industry in east london and also live in east London (Beckton).
I have been involved in various different business and have failed and blown all my savings.
I loved working on cars so I decided to learn the trade myself as all my previous businesses failed really badly due to no knowledge of my products.
So I have been working (learning) for a local garage for the last 5 years or so. I decided to take up extra courses to increase my knowledge and gain qualification.
I want to be an MOT tester. I have got the qualification and experience but no one to sponsor me. The local garage only do repairs but no MOTs.
I have seen more or less over 50 garages to help me ingraining my licence through VOSA but no one want to help.

So my request is that. Is there anyone on this planet who would help me. I don't mind paying little bit. (max £500).

    Can anyone help me?? Please???
    Thanks for looking.
    Many Thanks for reading.

Why would somone in the UK need assistance from someone in Nigeria or vice versa?

    Different systems different regulations.

Do tell. I will edit my post if you are genuine. But i presume you know the person you quoted has not even logged in for 13 months.

So how can someone setting up a UK MOT station help you or you help them?
