Cambridge one night hotel stay

Hello,

I want to take the wife to Cambridge for a night on the 19th August - assuming we can get the kids sorted!?!. We are thinking some kind of Travel Inn / Holiday Inn place, so it doesn't cost the earth. Ideally, one with an attached bar/pub like you get on the edge of town places. Does anyone have any suggestions, because I've done a quick search and hit a bit of a brickwall!

Thanks in advance.

Duncan

there is a Travelodge on station road leading to Cambridge Station.
Approx 250 metres from the ststion and 500metres from the city centre. The short walk is along a straight road you cannot get lost going into and out of the centre.

    Just over a mile actually.

It is on a new development with a cinema, various bars and restaurants, etc.

A 'less usual' design than most Travelodges http://www.cambridge2000.com/cambridge2000/html/addendum/P71915823.html

    Cheers Altarf and Bokken,

Looks like we're going for that. No rooms when we want to go, but having consulted the fixture list to ensure I won't miss a home game!!! going to plump for 9th Sept.

I don't suppose there any clever way of booking to get money off / R POINTS or something is there?

    Thanks for you advice.

Just to let you know there is no free parking at this hotel - the car park behind the hotel & the multi storey car park close by both charge £15 for overnight parking.

If you've not yet booked, you may want to try this link - I've just looked on it for you & there's a really good deal if you can do two nights - it works out at £30 per room per night

Or, the Holiday Inn Express is quite reasonable too

if you really want to go for a cheap option, try ringing some of the colleges and see if you can book some of their rooms while the students are away. they tend to be ensuite and the colleges have beautiful buildings and gardens.

parking at the NCP (100yds away) is only 50p/hr, between 6pm and 9am, so as long as you arrive and leave between these times it works out to £7.50 for an overnight park

Out of all the travelodges i have stayed in, this one is the nicest (prob due to being the newest), but with all the facilities in the plaza behind the hotel, its quite a nice place to hang out of an evening, and means you dont have to walk into town (bit of a trek)
