Recorded Delivery Item

I order regulary of a company they send the item recorded delivery.
I have had problems before with them just putting the said item through my door not knocking but the last lot was posted while I was out and I have just checked the tracking number and the item has been signed for.
What can I do about this?

First port of call would be to contact your local delivery office and see who has signed for it. See if they have some sort of proof of where it was delivered to. Also contact the company and explain that it's not been received by you. To be honest, it's really between them and royal mail.

If you have the item I would certainly be moaning formally to the PO that it was put through your door signed, presumably by the post man and you think this is out of order.

I've done this and you do get an apology and often a book of stamps and a note saying that post people will be reminded that where a signature cannot be obtained by the householder a card should be left for collection. Just make sure that noone else in the house did actually sign for it!
