Turtles are not native to UK and have become a pest to native wildlife, please do check around before you add non native animals to your pond
Think grey squirrels & crayfish for instances of what can happen
For unusual fish why not golden orfe, or Koi?When an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
If you are lucky, you may get a newt or two? Especially if anyone around you with a well established pond has some.

I think newts are a protected species and you aren't allowed to mess around with them, I'm afraid.0

When I set up a pond in my old house, I had newts arrive of their own accord. If you know anyone who has a pond, you can also take some water from their pond and this will help introduce more wildlife into the pond faster. A word of warning though - it may also introduce blanket and similar weeds also.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!
