Yes, I realized that too late (the small print was really small, and blurry, the rascals!). I updated my post. Might still work out as a good deal for some, but you'd have to want the mag for a year at a rate of 9.99 after the initial three issues for a pound. And I'm always iffy on whether the free gifts really will come, so I only sign up for these things if it's a good deal for the mags alone without the free gift. Sorry!

It says 9.99 biannually, does that not mean every 6 months? So, 19.98 for the year?

It says that you can't. I probably have inadvertently signed up for offers that were meant to be a year and I didn't realize it because I signed up for several things when I first found this site and was unaware there are sometimes "no-cancel" clauses, so I always canceled my direct debit online with the bank after the 1 quid was taken out. No company has ever bothered me to stay a customer for a year and pay more. I wouldn't do this on purpose though, as it's risky and I hate hassles. I have read posts from people who say it's no problem, they have canceled similar offers as soon as the pound (or 5 quid, whatever the initial deal was) is taken out and have never been forced to pay more; I wouldn't take the risk, but it's really up to you.

Anyone else think it's very very clever marketing? They have those customers who are prepared to pay full price for everything AND they now have a group of us who will buy their goods at a lower price, as long as it's percived to be a 'deal'.

I am willing to bet that their sales volumes are increasing, maybe even their overall profits, due to them tapping into this extra customer market.

Not that I'm complaining! Just very clever!

MMM I totally agree and clever marketing - I congratulate them in the current climate, I wouldn't want to see them go under like other companies on the high street!
