Direct Debit Problem, anyone else?

Ok so the money is still in the account - but not available - same thing in my eyes lol. I can see how this would be beneficial as you cant spend the money & incur charges, but 'what if' for instance you needed the money over the weekend, had cash coming monday, & planned to pay the money in 1st thing Monday morning - as mentioned in previous posts, you do have until approx 2.30 to get the money into your account before you incur any charges. I guess if you need the money that much you would have to withdraw it on the Friday, then get it back in on the Monday.

Never mind going round in circles here lol. All I was trying to get across is the fact you cannot access the money, & if I have misunderstood anyone then I apologise.

It's no different to you authorising a Debit Card transaction. The money is removed from 'available' ...... but doesn't actually leave your account until the real debit is taken .... normally 24/48hrs later!

Yes on a normal current account I agree, but I was talking about a basic account when this happened to me, where the money leaves your available & actual balance instantly whether DD or Debit card transaction.

I am just telling it how it appeared on my online banking on the old step account. The DD was taken on the Saturday & the money was removed from both balances - I suppose it WOULD be different on a current account. Will have to check my DD dates now just in case for future reference!
