Hi All
Have received my renewal forms to renew my LGV licence, i got it in the army 20 years ago and have not driven an LGV for 15 years. I am a bit confused as to what to do, i do not want to renew it , so do i just let it lapse and renew my photo licence as normal when it expires in Aug, or do i have to fill in a fom to say i am surrendering the right to drive these types of vehicles ( LGV), i do not have any medical reasons just not driven them for 15 years so cannot see the point.
Thanks

    Hi M8
Had similar situation, just let it lapse, I hit 45 and was not driving HGV so did not bother. The good part was last year I was doing some agency work and I contacted DVLA about the class 3 and they said you still have the entitlement (even after 8 years!) just pass the medical and they would reissue, I did and they did! Can now drive class 2

Even tho you don't use it, it is there if you ever need it!

Not clear is it! Just let the HGV entitlement lapse, that way it is always in the background if you ever need it.
Weird considering how DVLA like to tie things up and get money from you. I honestly thought, after 8 years, I was going to have to retest. Was surprised when she said ' You still have the entitlement, as soon as you put the renewal in the post you can drive'
