Fake Call from the 'Telephone Preference Service.'

In December I reactivated a phone line that had been disconnected for over three years, and shortly afterwards started getting those annoying pre-recorded debt (mis)management and injury lawyers calls. So I registered with the TPS in January.
In February I was just heading out for an appointment when a bloke rang reading from a script needing to complete my registration for the TPS. I said I couldn't talk to him as I was going to be late, but now I think about it he was pretty persistent ...
Luckily I did not give him any personal details.
Just been on the TPS site and discovered this is a scam so thought I'd warn others (sure it isn't new but always worth a reminder):
"TPS will not call a subscriber of the service to ask for personal details or payment to complete a registration. If you have registered via the web and have received an e-mail confirmation and clicked on the attached link, that's it! Your number will be registered with the FREE TPS. We will not contact you again in relation to your registration ..."
No idea if it was a coincidence that I had recently registered or somehow this guy knew, but I am completely sure he did say telephone preference service as I was on my guard when I answered the phone and almost let it down at that point.
Hope that helps someone.
