"Fat" taskbar

I know this is probably really trivial but my son has been playing on the computer this afternoon and now the task bar at the bottom of the page is huge and takes up half the screen.
I've been messing around for a while now trying to rectify it but with no joy. I know it's not the end of the world but it is annoying. I've got windows ME.
How do I change it back?

Why is it we sometimes assume somthing is complicated when it isn't?

right click on the taskbar and make sure you dont have a tick by lock the taskbar option then do as No.20 says. to lock the taskbar do the same as above0
