Slow Cookers.....again!

Hello everyone

I don't think you have had enough threads on slow cookers, so I thought I'd start a new one :D

I have searched the massive indexed thread on slow cookers, but cannot find the answer i need, so wonder if any of you know?

I want to invest in a slow cooker in the next couple of months, when I move into my own place (currently share with sis) so that it will save me precious time in the evenings.

Unfortunately, I leave the house between 6:45 and 7am  on weekdays, so will not have too much time to be faffing about with all indredients etc, unless I start getting up at stupid o clock.

Anyway, can you fill the crock pot the night before, keep it in the fridge and then just transfer it straight to the SC in the morning, and add the hot liquid, or will that crack the crock?

Thinking about it, I guess i could put all of the ingredients into another bowl in the fridge and then just move them to the crock in the morning?

I guess I have sort of answered my own question, doh!

Hi Stilton Cheese - getting things ready to put on the next morning is one of my tactics. If you can stand the smell wafting through your house you could put your slow cooker on the night before and leave it on until you get up in the morning. Then when you get in that evening just microwave or heat up a portion on the cooker. If you've made loads the rest can be bunged into containers right away to go in the freezer.

It's hard to go wrong with a slow cooker really!
  • Thanks Squeaky and Snowyowl

I hadn't thought about doing it the night before, that would make my life even easier :D

When I told someone the other day i wanted a slow cooker, they laughed their head off.

Guess I will be having the last laugh once its cooking me lush home-made food. :rotfl:
