The bottom of the DSi XL has a matte finish. The top is glossy like the DS Lite so it is a bit of a fingerprint magnet.
I bought the '4 Players accessory pack for DSi XL' from HMV for 10 pounds yesterday. Well worth the money if you want to protect your DSi XL.0 -

I don't think the XL was intended to be an 'upgrade' to the original DSi - it's more for the oldies who could not use a normal DSi because their eyes are too feeble to see the smaller screen and their hands too arthritic to press the smaller buttons. Really, by the time you get to that age you should be planning your funeral rather than playing space invaders
True to a point although I think it is a bit of a misconception really. Sure it's not an upgrade hardware wise apart from the dimensions of the device and the screen. Everything else inside is the same as the DSi.
To me though it feels like an upgrade purely because of those features. Like I said before, once you've a few XL hours under your belt, you won't want to switch back to the DS Lite. Therefor, for those purposes alone, the DSi XL qualifies as an upgrade to me. Though obviously this will vary from individual to individual...0 -
am i right in thinking that although the unit itself is bigger, the buttons are the same size as the DSi?
If like me you suffer from "fat finger syndrome" this may have been an opportunity missed.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

Yep the buttons are the same size as on the DSi/Lite. However I find that they need not be any bigger. The layout actually works rather well. The main advantage being there is more room to grip the device, ridding (at least me anyway) of nasty hand cramps after just 10 minutes of use.0

I don't know if it's just me but I think the screen quality is really poor on the brain training as it's stretched and so the text is blurry, has anyone noticed it?0
