household appliance insurance worth it?

hi.
got a few household appliances that are now a few years old. Is it worth getting some kind of insurance for these in the event of breakdown?

the usual; dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer, cooker...

any ideas/reputable companies?
thanks,
chris.

my personal view is that the cost of these items are so cheap thesedays that they are a wastefull expense unless you get a great deal on something.

Unless you have bought some fantastic top of the range product i would give them a miss.

I agree with gazza, these policies are a waste of time and money in my view.

I don't take them out for new appliances (e.g. my washing machine last year) let alone items a few years old. Chances are you'll get loads more use out of your gadgets before they have to be replaced - and if not then a one-off repair on one item is cheaper than, say, seven insurance policies on all your items, IYSWIM.

Spend your money on something else! :D

I also agree that they're a waste of money! Often, if you put the premium in a savings account, you'll have saved up the cost of a replacement in about 2 years! So we do that instead, meaning that we can afford to have the appliance repaired, if economical to do so, or simply replace it.
