I have just purchased an item from ebay - paid for it using direct bank transfer, forgetting I have linked my paypal acct to my new Natwest current plus acct. which currently does not have enough money to cover the payment. I cannot transfer the money from my step account today as it wont go until Monday & then I'm unsure if it would clear instantly (most likely, but you never know!!) I have had a receipt for the payment, so they have let it go through, but it is not showing on my online statement as of yet. Anyone have any experience of how long it normally takes to show on the acct by bank transfer? I really don't want to start off the acct with charges - I can't believe I have done this!!!!!:(

Still not showing on the Current plus account. I have checked my step account, & it hasn't come out of there either. The visa I have registered with paypal is linked to the step account & it said if they were unable to take payment directly from bank due to unsufficient funds in the account, it would use the debit card as a backup, which would be fine as the money is in that account, but it would show instantly.
So it looks as though I am going to get charged:( what a plonker:mad: If I do- anyone have any idea how much? The earliest it will let me transfer money from the Step acct is on the 8th - they havent got it linked to our current plus account so no instant transfer available:mad:0 -
paypal uses a direct debit transfer, so putting it in monday will be fine0

Does your bank have 'telephone banking' l wonder, if so give them a call explain the issue and plead insanity...lol and ask if they could overlook the charges. Or pop into the branch asap on Monday.
Best of luck with it0 -

If it is DD transfer then I should be ok to get it in 1st thing Monday hopefully.
Thanks for your replies - just awaiting a reply from the seller now - fingers crossed they will amend the order & send me the correct size!!!:whistle:0 -
Natwest to Natwest transfers done through online banking have always been instant for me (even at weekends).0

Yes, used to be the same here too, but recently when I try to transfer to another acct that isn't linked to the Step account on a weekend, the date of transfer will always show as the Monday. I can transfer between my Step & savings acct instantly because they are linked & on the same internet banking page, but I have a completely different logon for the current plus, so it treats it as sending to a third party acct I assume..
Unless I am doing something wrong - which in my frame of mind today, I wouldn't discount !!!!0 -
The date may show as Monday but the funds go in instantly, well in my case anyway! I transfer money from my Natwest current plus to my sisters Natwest first reserve savings account and the money shows in her balance straight away even though the payment date refers to the future Monday.0
