Alternatively consider saving all of your money and get AVG Free. Many say it outperforms Norton and uses less of your computers resources:

Can recommend avast! for viruses and zone alarm for a firewall. Both free and much better that any norton or mcafee products.

Thanks for that. Is that why it is one of the biggest selling av and/or firewall programmes in the World??? ;)

Don't mean to get at you mcware but just because something is the worlds best selling doesn't necessarily mean its the best take Coco cola or Macdonalds (although people are finally realising about Mcdonalds)

Often its the company with the biggest advertising budget that shifts the most units even though its product might not be as good as one costing half the price.

Saying that I got a cheap version of Norton Systemworks 2003 off ebay for £5 inc NAV and I'm quite happy with it!!! But do prefer Zonealarm for my firewall.

Wouldn't pay £29.99 for it and the rrp of £59.99 is just for people with no brains

Out of the paid for versions how about this for around £8

Think of the AV debate like the difference between bottled water and tap water. You can buy into the image and pay your hard earned money for a bottle of Evian or you can get a glass of tap water. By your logic the Evian is a vastly superior product because millions of people choose to pay for it....

or maybe the benefits are percieved rather than actual.

I can recommend the current edition of PC Pro magazine. The cover disk comes with "all the software you need", it's all free editions and/or open source and includes AntiVirius, AntiSpyware, Firewall, Office, Graphics/Photos etc.
Most users do not realise that it is not necessary to buy software for home/casual use. It's all available free and completely legal.
    Can I help?

If you know how you can get it free. Or a simpler way but extreme is to just format c: drive, reinstall windows, resinatll nortons, then you get it free for another year - but easier to get the free stuff which is better anyway
