PS3 broken, under one year old

Hi,
Looking for a bit of advice please, we bought my son a PS3 in September last year. It has now broken.
I havent been able to find my receipt for it, but, we did pay for it on our credit card, and the credit card company confirmed the payment was made on the 28th September last year. Do I take it back to the shop I bought it from, or do I contact Sony?
Will there be any problems because we dont have the receipt?
Also, does the item get replaced or repaired?

Contacting Sony will be easier, but you may need a receipt copy for them, so you might want to go back to the shop and let them sort itSquirrel!If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. I was advised to phone sony by store i bought mine from , they should be able to tell by serial number that its still under gaurantee, they never asked me for my receipt although they did ask where i purchased it from and date.. I got a brand new console delivered in a few days,and they collect the faulty one at same time.0

If need be, would they accept a copy of a statement from the credit card company? I didnt pay full price for the PS3, my son had a PS3 that was broken, and the shop we brought it from took the broken PS3 as a trade in, and sold us a new PS3 for £150. The new PS3 was brand new, but they didnt give us the box etc.

Thanks, I will probably try the store first of all (they are open tomorrow and see what they say, if no joy there I will call Sony on Monday).0
