i went into brighton fat face to find a top for a friend, called ethnic, and asked the woman behind the counter if they had it - described it as 'strappy t-shirt, with lots of bold colours, its called ethnic, and may be part of the new collection, its on your website'
she looked around in a bored fashion asked another person, then said 'oh we dont have it...' oh well i said and then she made a comment like 'thats if it exists...'
no you stupid bimbo - i often go in to shops on a saturday with a giant buggy, 2 kids, and make up things to ask for cos i find it really fun you patronising cow! (bit of a rant there.... - am about to go over and post on the other board about the lovely people in GAP so there!)

Willow: I knew it, I knew it, well not in the sense of having the slightest idea, but I knew there was something I didn't know!

GAP - mass exclusive market
Fat Face - alternative/ hip market
They have different business propositions... gap going for the mass exclusivity model will undoubtably try for better service as this is what justifies their higher prices.... designed for people who value time saving (in particular) and service (in general) above pure price. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

And I'll think you find Fat Face has just as high prices. Normally about £24.50 for tops and £40+ for bottoms.
As someone who has worked for both companies I can assure you that Gap seems to impress upon their staff the importance of cust service much more so than FF. In fact, it was often a huge game in FF to try and avoid talking to customers! Whereas in Gap, we loved it. Really made the day go by faster if you were enjoying your work and chatting to customers, helping them, getting the right products. Retail isn't all that boring if you take an interest in it.
