Online Instant Saver Reward (BOS)

Went online at Bank of Scotland, and find the Interest button does NOTHING !!!

So had to phone up and go through MASSES of security checks, just to get the current interest rate ( from a human.)

This is SO unprofessional.... are they hoping we FORGET about interest rates ??

I assume you mean their Instant Access Savings Account.

Clicking on "Current Interest Rates" on the left hand menu from the account screen logged me out of the Halifax online site (annoying) and took me to Halifax rates.

The rates can be found on the Bank of Scotland web site though, so I don't think it's a deliberate plan!

(The reason they've removed rate from screen is linked to the merger of HBOS systems with LTSB).

It is a right pain because with their IASA's the displayed interest rate was the only straightforward way to know the issue of the account, and if it was still within the 12month "reward" bonus period. Now they all just show up identically in online banking regardless of which issues you have, and if the bonus has expired.

Yes mine is IASAR (Reward).... though they like to OMIT the R which is highly annoying.

One likes to have CONFIRMATION of the exact account, and the exact current interest rate.;)

Using their LONG lists of accounts (on website) can very easily give you the wrong answer, especially since the DATE you opened is often crucial.

The human I eventually spoke to did confirm my interest rate has not varied yet. But to get this simple number from her, the loads of questions she asked was INSANE.

I had a similar story with RBS and was surprised to see how far the interest rate had dropped on their "market leadung" cash ISA.

Transfered to Nationwide 3 year fixed rate ISA. Not the best rate, but as I already have an account, it was the least hassle - for me.
